Kelli O'Laughlin Remembered on Two-Year Anniversary

Facebook and Twitter were full of messages for Kelli O'Laughlin, the 14-year-old Lyons Township student who was killed two years ago in her Indian Head Park home.

Sunday marked the two-year anniversary of the death of Kelli O'Laughlin, the 14-year-old Indian Head Park resident and Lyons Township freshman who police allege was stabbed to death in her home after walking in on a burglary in process.

Twitter and Facebook were full of messages in recent days dedicated to O'Laughlin, and Patch used Storify to compile a few of them.

Among the messages was one posted on Facebook by Kelli's dad, John O'Laughlin.

"We can see that love in people you touched that didn't even know you," John O'Laughlin writes. Thank you for the short beautiful life you shared with us."

As the community mourns two years after Kelli O'Laughlin's death, the man charged with her murder has yet to stand trial.

John L. Wilson—who has gone from representing himself, to accepting the services of a public defender, to requesting representation from his original attorneys—will next be in court Nov. 12.
