Nazareth welcomes Class of 2017

While classes don’t officially start until Monday, August 19, Nazareth welcomed over 200 students from the Class of 2017 for two days of Orientation this week.

Led by over 100 sophomores, juniors and seniors, the Class of 2017 walked through their schedules, learned about student activities, received their official email addresses and got to know each other. The class gathered as one in their first Prayer Service and had the chance to let loose at an evening mixer, complete with DJ and dancing.

One of the new items this year was a presentation on Digital Citizenship. The Class of 2017 will be the first class at Nazareth to participate in BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). Freshmen have been given the option to purchase electronic texts and use personal devices in some classes.  With that new power comes the responsibility to manage their digital footprint responsibly.

Nazareth is grateful to the many students, faculty and staff members who put in countless hours to make this event a success. It is good to know they also find the experience rewarding. “It’s nice to see so many freshmen excited and eager for the school year to start,” says Frankie Citro ’14, one of the student leaders. “It’s a reminder to all of us how lucky we are to be at Nazareth.”

Already off to a strong start, the newest members of the Nazareth family are equipped to be a positive reflection of the school’s long legacy.
