Nazareth Students Show Spirit of Service

With Service being one of Nazareth's core pillars, it's no surprise that students are constantly finding opportunities to serve others. Nazareth has seen countless examples over the past month. From food and clothing drives, to bake sales, to full-blown parties, this fall has seen Nazareth students at their best.

While many students were celebrating Halloween with costumes and too much candy, senior Addie Doyle organized a Halloween party for La Grange's Caring Place for Kids. Naz students regularly offer tutoring and companionship at Caring Place, but Addie took it one step further with a party filled with treats and games for kids.

As the cold weather hit, another senior, Ryan Minik, organized a Nazareth Academy Coat Drive in the first week of November, collecting dozens of bags of new and gently used coats to be donated to Catholic Charities.

The entire student body, along with faculty and staff, came together to collect hundreds of pantry items as part of our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.  Members of the Football team then delivered all the bags and boxes to the SFX Food Pantry.

Nazareth’s Student Council turned their Cake Boss competition into a patriotic fundraiser, donating all proceeds from the USA Bake Sale, over $400, toward the purchase of supplies for the Hines VA Hospital.

When tornadoes hit central Illinois, the entire Nazareth community was quick to step in with donations pouring through the front doors each and every day. Students worked daily to keep up with this generosity, boxing and packaging items for delivery to Washington, IL.

These are just a few examples of how Nazareth students incorporate Service into every part of a Naz education.
