Merchants Turn on the Charm Just in Time for Valentine's Day

The small businesses of La Grange are offering sweet savings to their customers just in time for Valentine’s Day with a mid-week shopping incentive on Wednesday, February 12 called I Heart La Grange, according to the La Grange Business Association.

Snowfall and record-breaking arctic temperatures over the past month have forced businesses to be creative in attracting customers into their stores and restaurants during what is already a slow time of the year.

Nearly 20 merchants will offer $5 savings off a $25 minimum purchase during the I Heart La Grange promotion, a sales effort that’s also a subtle reminder for residents to support their local businesses.

Additionally, some retailers and services will sweeten their appeal with valentines-themed merchandise and activities suitable for two - like couples yoga at Oasis for Women, wine education classes at Vino e Birra, or Date Night at Flying High Gym where parents can drop off their kids at a lively pizza party while they enjoy a night out.  Some retailers are appealing to the younger crowd -  EcoManiacs is offering free crafts for children each Wednesday in February.

The La Grange merchants offering $5 off a $25 minimum purchase on February 12 are:  Broken Nail Boutique, Cold Stone Creamery, Consign and Redesign, Chimera’s Comics, DiNico’s Pizza, EcoManiacs, Fireside Wood-Fired Pizza, Isn’t That Sweet, The Hope Chest, Horton’s Home Lighting, Lilett’ Candies Gourmet Chocolate Shop, Nest Vintage Modern, Primal Oceans Salt Cave, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, The Runner’s Soul, Vino e Birra, Veni Vidi Val, and 46 South Salon.

La Grange Restaurant Week, also organized by the LGBA, is underway now through February 9 and offers diners three-course, value-priced menus  at $20 or $25 at lunch or dinner, excluding tax and tip. The Village of La Grange is providing complimentary valet parking in conjunction with the promotion as an added customer incentive.

To counter the effects of colder weather, the LGBA is also organizing an indoor sidewalk sale on Saturday, March 15 – and retailers are hoping that shoppers warm up to a traditional clearance sale event generally offered during the heat of summer.
