La Journee des Tziganes, the Day of the Gypsies, premiers this weekend

The original RPM Productions event, La Journee des Tziganes, The Day of the Gypsies, takes place tonight (April 11) at 7:00 p.m and tomorrow (April 12) at 3:00 p.m.

Described as a "vibrant music and dance production features the John Jorgenson gypsy jazz quintet live onstage with the bravura choreography of RPM director and choreographer Gordon Peirce Schmidt." The show combines  gypsy jazz and Franco-American swing into a 90-minute story.  

The team behind this event has impressive credentials. Gordon Peirce Schmidt "is a recipient of numerous awards including a Prime Time Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Achievement-Cultural Programming and two Ruth Page Awards for Choreography." Grammy winning guitarist and music virtuoso John Jorgenson is known for his blistering guitar licks and mastery of a broad musical palette. He has collaborated with musicians across the genres including Elton John, Luciano Pavarotti, Bonnie Raitt and Bob Dylan.
