Women Can Shop for a Cause at the Upcoming LGBA’s “Girlfriend’s Getaway” Night

Who:     The Hope Chest, an upscale women’s and children’s clothing resale shop whose sole beneficiary is a battered women’s shelter (The Pillars’ Constance Morris House (CMH)), is participating in the upcoming LGBA’s  “Girlfriend’s Getaway”. 

Why:     The Hope Chest is excited to participate in this event because it provides a great way for woman to support an important cause while at the same time have a special day of shopping with friends.  And, it’s just in time to find Mother’s Day and/or graduation gifts.

What:     During the “Girlfriend’s Getaway”, The Hope chest will have a lot of fun activities going on, including:

• A Stella and Dot trunk show - A protion of the proceeds will go to The Hope Chest
• Free Drawings - Donated Stella and Dot jewelry will be given away through free drawings throughout the evening
• Fun Fashion Demonstrations - Scarf tying demonstrations along with demonstrations on how to create your own beautiful scarf with a favorite handwritten quote
• Drinks, Food & Coupons - Refreshments, dessert and 25% off coupons will also be provided to those who visit The Hope Chest for the “Girlfriend’s Getaway”

About The Hope Chest:

The Hope Chest is an upscale resale shop specializing in quality women’s and children’s clothing.

Founded in 1994, The Hope Chest is a not-for-profit organization whose sole beneficiary is Pillars’ Constance Morris House (CMH). The Constance Morris House is a shelter for abused women and their children.  The CMH provides physical and psychological safety to women and children who are fleeing abusive relationships.

We accept donations of gently used women’s and children’s clothing, shoes, purses, jewelry and books. By selling these items in our store we are able to donate funds to the CMH and make possible some of the many benefits provided for the residents of the shelter, such as free living quarters, meals, counseling, therapy, health care and advocacy. In addition, The Hope Chest provides clean, comfortable clothing at no cost to the shelter residents.

Additional Information on the LGBA’s “Girlfriend’s Getaway”:

 A VIP empty shopping bag/tote will be given to the first 100 women at 2:00 and then again to the first 100 women at 6:00, along with a “Girlfriend’s Guide”, showing the participating merchants. The tote bag give-away will take place at Vanguard’s lobby on 6th Avenue.

 Participants will receive a “bingo” card that is a $5 off coupon (good for any of the participating stores) and will serve as the contest entry for a grand prize - a night for two at Trump Tower in Chicago. In order to be entered for the grand prize, a woman must visit at least one business in each of the four districts. The four districts are: West End, La Grange Rd., Harris St. and Calendar Ave. and will be color coded.
