La Grange Park Home Sales, Prices Increase in March

Ten homes sold in La Grange Park during March 2013, though sales in La Grange were the same as in March 2012.

The 10 detached, single-family homes sold in La Grange Park during March represented a 150 percent increase from March 2012, when four homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe).

In La Grange, the nine homes sold during March was the same as in 2012.

In both towns, the median price of homes sold in March was slightly up compared to last year. The median price rose 2.3 percent to $334,950 from $327,500 in La Grange Park during March 2012, and rose 3.5 percent to $388,000 from $375,000 in La Grange.

The number of homes sold in each town was also up from . 

The market for detached, single-family homes in suburbs throughout west Cook County saw growth in March, MORe reported. MORe gets its statistics from Midwest Real Estate Data.

River Forest saw the largest percent increase in sales, with 200 percent more homes sold year over year in March. Forest Park, Lemont and Western Springs had the highest percentage increase in median price.

The momentum is expected to continue as the number of detached homes under contract in March grew by 46 percent in those same communities. The median sale price for detached homes also increased 2 percent from the previous March.

“The spring market hasn’t been this busy since 2007,” said Tonya Corder, president of MORe and managing broker of Keller Williams Preferred Realty in Orland Park. “For homes that are priced right, multiple offers are coming in.”
