October Home Sales in La Grange Up 88.9 Percent Year-Over-Year

The 17 detached, single family homes sold in October represent an 88.9 percent jump from the number of homes sold in October 2012, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors.

The 17 single, detached homes sold in La Grange during October 2013 represented an 88.9 percent increase over October 2012, when 9 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe).

La Grange also saw a jump in September, when 16 homes were sold.

In La Grange Park, 11 homes sold, down 15.4 percent from October 2012. 

The median price of homes sold in La Grange has decreased year over year, from $467,000 in 2012 to $430,000 in 2013. The median price in La Grange Park, however, rose 34.2 percent from $238,400 in October 2012 to $320,000 in October 2013, according to the statistics.

In the wider La Grange area, Forest Park experienced the most significant increase in sales over the same period last year (125 percent), with La Grange and Hinsdale. River Forest had the greatest percentage increase in median sale price, up 81.6 percent from October 2012 to October 2013. 

Overall, October 2013 sales in the Chicago suburbs were up 9.6 percent compared to the same time last year. The median sale price for detached homes increased 19.1 percent from the previous October, and the number of homes under contract rose by 17.4 percent.
