La Grange Hometown Holiday

Santa Claus will get a rock star’s arrival and a police escort in La Grange on
Saturday, December 7 when he rides atop a fire truck to Village Hall and throws
the switch to light a towering tree following an all-village holiday
sing-a-long.

La
Grange shops, restaurants and businesses will kick off the holidays with
festive open houses and winter-themed activities from 5:00-9:00pm at the 22nd
annual "Hometown Holiday" organized by the La Grange Business
Association.

Thousands are expected to join in the free holiday activities celebrating the
magic of the season.  Along with visits
to Santa, the event includes choirs and strolling carolers, a baby animal
petting zoo with pony rides, a bonfire for make-your-own s'mores, free old-time
trolley rides throughout the village, ice sculptures and kiddie train
rides.

Musical
entertainment will include the Lyons
Township High School Madrigal Choir
, strolling carolers and small group
performances around the village by musicians from the Salt Creek Chamber Orchestra.

Children
are asked to help fill Santa’s sack for the less fortunate by contributing a
non-perishable food item for a local food pantry when they visit him at Village
Hall to share their wishes.

New
this year is a promotion to encourage holiday shopping.  Participating merchants will display a window
decal on their front doors offering shoppers $5 off a $25 minimum purchase only
on December 7.  Some restrictions apply.

Visitors
are encouraged to park in the free commuter lot near Lyons Township High School
North Campus and ride the trolley through the Village.  Additionally, most local merchants will host
festive holiday open houses along with shopping specials and holiday-themed
activities, prize drawings and refreshments.

Hometown Holiday is sponsored by Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital with the
Village of La Grange along with over 60 local business sponsors as a way of
thanking residents and visitors for their patronage throughout the year.
