Independent Variables: Showcasing Local Talent

The La Grange Public Library will display works of oil by 17 local artists in an exhibit titled Independent Variables. The paintings can be viewed in the Lower Level Gallery from November 12 through December 31, 2012. An artist’s reception will be held at the Library on November 16 from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

The artists range in age from mid-20s to early-80s, and come from nearby cities in west and south-west Chicagoland. All have had different artistic journeys, and consist of new beginners to lifetime artists. Their common thread is that they have all been taught by artist Beth Leahy.

Participating artists are: Maryann Busch, Sarah Conway, Starlet Culp, Martin Cunningham, Peggy Finnegan, Tom Foss, Pat Gavrielides, Patricia Golias, Michele Kuleszewicz, Nicole Martinelli, Vidas Mikunas, Sandy Mulcahy, Christopher John Prince, Sally Rozak, Anna Ryan, Julie Skoda, Shirley Wolan, and Nicole Zimmermann.

Beth Leahy takes great pride in her role as an artist, in addition to teaching classical realism to artists of all skill levels at local art studios and continuing education programs. Her work has been shown in the Fine Arts Building in Chicago as well as a number of galleries throughout the area. She has been painting for 35 years and teaching since 1998.

This exhibit is part of the Library’s rotating display of local and area artists. Stop in to meet the student artists at the reception, or come in to view their work during regular Library hours.
