Asanas for the Chakras: A Focus on Creativity and Pleasure with Anne Unger

Are you feeling a little boxed in, stuck in a rut and aching to push through this “phase” in your life? Do you feel guilty for spending time and money on yourself and the things you enjoy because your family’s needs are more important? Or maybe you’re feeling a bit out of control, constantly jumping from one thing to another in search of the next best thing? If so, you could be experiencing an imbalance in your second chakra.

The second chakra, Svadisthana, is related to issues of sensuality, sexuality, emotions, intimacy, creativity, and desire. Instead of demanding that our body or a relationship be different, the second chakra encourages us to feel the feelings that arise as we open up to life just as it is.

This class will focus on yoga poses that combine strength and flexibility, effort and surrender, while encouraging ourselves to “feel the feelings” that arise during practice. We’ll begin to accept where we’re at in our practice and eventually be able to transfer this to our life, learning how to “go with the flow.” Anatomical focus: hips, sacrum, lower back.
