La Grange Man in Good Condition after Saturday's Fatal Indiana Crash

Michael Rende, 20, was airlifted to Advocate Christ Medical Center with life-threatening injuries after the SUV he was riding in rolled over in Indiana.

A La Grange man is in good condition after he was seriously injured Saturday in a rollover crash that killed another passenger, a spokeswoman for Christ Advocate Medical Center in Oak Lawn said Tuesday.

Michael Rende, 20, was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after the SUV he was in blew a tire and rolled over near Remington, IN. He and four friends were returning to the Chicago area from Indiana University.

It is unclear how much longer Rende, a 2011 graduate of Lyons Township High School, will remain hospitalized, the spokeswoman said.

Another passenger from La Grange, Jacob Newman, was not injured in the crash.

John J. Malone, 20, of River Forest, died after he was ejected from the SUV. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at , while his funeral mass is set for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Giles Church in Oak Park.

The driver, Mario Gaugliardo, of Deerfield, and another passenger, Jason Blackman, of Wilmette, were also injured in the accident.
