All Sweeteners Are NOT Alike

Beginning an overview of using sweeteners. Some sweeteners ARE better than others.

Did you realize the nervous system can begin to dysfunction based on what you feed your body?  You are what you eat.  A patient can be "subluxated" (have nerve flow issues) by ingesting sweeteners...let's discuss.

So what about these sweeteners? The yellow packet, the blue packet, the pink packet, stevia, xylitol, honey....  And you have to consider the calorie content, the chemical content and then of course the taste factor.  So let's go over the chemical content, one sweetener at a time.

Sucralose  Marketed under the name, Splenda, sucralose is made by adding chlorine to sugar molecules. Unfortunately, most studies conducted on sucralose were performed on lab animals; only two human trials were completed and published prior to FDA approval in 1998.  Side effects include depression, weight gain, GI problems, chest pains, anxiety, skin irritations, migraines, male infertility and heart palpitations.

Next week we will cover Aspartame, Saccharin and Natural Alternatives.  So far hold your judgment and we will discuss again.

We also work with our patients to help them understand that we adjust  them for not only physical causes to their pains, but chemical causes as well.
