Ready Teddy Preschool Science Fair and Open House a Success!

Ready Teddy Preschool's Science Fair and Open House was a huge success, bringing in larger than expected numbers!

On Wednesday, March 20th, Ready Teddy Preschool opened its classroom doors and invited families inside for a look into the preschooler’s world. From 6:30 – 8:00 pm guests were able to walk from room to room and see the different activities and projects that go on during the course of the month, what topics get covered and introduced, and the progress and success that each student has had while attending their respective classes. Additionally, the multi-purpose room was opened and set up for experiments, demonstrations and information tables for all to embrace and enjoy.

Ready Teddy Preschool, housed at the Recreation Center, 1501 Barnsdale Rd. in La Grange Park, has been a significant member of the Community Park District of La Grange Park’s family for many years, and each year it seems to get better. This year, the turnout was much larger than expected. Each of the classrooms was set up with hands-on activities and “make and take” projects for children and parents.

In the multi-purpose room, two stations proved to be the most popular. The first station was the polymer station. Participants were able to create their own ball to conduct experiments with instructions that were handed out. They were also able to take additional materials home with them to create more bouncy balls. The second station was manned by the Hinsdale Humane Society. At this station, viewers were able to see an “Ick Box”, a box which holds live specimens of fleas, ticks, worms, etc. Also present was a very friendly therapy dog that is trained to assist people with disabilities and physical limitations. Among the other stations were the La Grange Park Police Department providing a fingerprinting station, Play Tek showing off their innovative ideas using Legos, and Mr. Nature doing a presentation on skin and skulls.

Each year Ready Teddy Preschool is happy to open up their classrooms for new, current, and old families to see how successful their program is. The creative minds and new discoveries that happen in the classrooms are nothing short of amazing and only keep getting better as more new faces grace the Recreation Center. The Science Fair and Open House is held every year and offers great insight for curious parents about what the program is all about. Enrollment is held year round, with annual registration held in February.
