Toastmasters Earn Awards

West Suburban Toastmaster Club of La Grange Park members have been earning awards. In the 4th quarter of 2013 Mike Folkening, Ruth Princess and Maria Sarli completed their Competent Communicator (CC) awards. Chuck Bosko achieved his Advanced Communicator Bronze (ACB).

At the upcoming 2014 Open House on January 16 Raymond Miller will complete his 10th speech to earn his CC and be presented with a ribbon for his achievement. His speech is titled "Prison Break!" is an inspirational speech, 8 - 10 minutes long.  It seeks to inspire the audience to take action to change their habitual behavior, get out of their stuck space and expand their horizons in the way nature intended.

Also speaking at the open house is Carrie Olivia. Ms. Olivia is an Advanced Communicator Silver (ACS) and Advanced Leader Bronze (ALB). She will deliver a speech titled Finding Roots in Frankfurt, Germany.  In this speech Carrie will relate her accidental discovery of another leaf on her family tree - her Great, Great Grandfather - a 19th Century German folk poet, newspaper publisher and patriot, who resisted Bismarck's annexation of the Free City State of Frankfurt into the Prussian empire. Carrie will share with us highlights of her recent European travels as she unearthed new family roots by tracing Grandpa Fritz's footsteps in the city he loved.  If you have ever been tempted to research your heritage, you don't want to miss this speech. Carrie's tale of discovery will inspire you to start working on your family tree without delay.

The 3rd speaker will be Ruth Princess. She has earned her ACS and ALB. Ruth Princess, author of Diary of a Fat Female, will be presenting a 7-minute talk on Goal Setting. Many people have already broken their New Years Resolution. She has continued her goal for over a decade.

Please join us for the Open House on Thursday, January 16, 2013 at 6:45 p.m. and start earning your awards for better communication and leadership skill.
