Teacher Professional Development

Two Summer Agriculture Institutes Programs are offered this summer by the Cook County Farm Bureau Foundation.  These offer teachers educators in grades K-12 the opportunity to use agriculture as a focus on Units of Study to teach subjects such as science, English language arts, social studies, culinary arts and math.  Teachers are given first-hand experiences such as meeting farm families, touring processing/production plants, learning how commodities are traded, milking cows and hearing industry speakers.  Two programs available including  a one-week local program in Cook County or a four day program touring Central Illinois.  Both qualify for Continuing Professional Development Units or graduate credit hours through Aurora University.  Call 708-354-3276 to learn more and watch this You Tube video from last year’s program.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBJR8G-l9bQ&feature=player_embedded
