La Grange, Ill. April 28, 2014 – There is no shortage of talent at Salon Hype, the western suburbs’ premier hair salon with locations in La Grange and Burr Ridge. Owner and creative director Ross Bartolomei has announced the hiring of three experienced stylist/colorists to his creative team, bringing the number of employees to 60.
Erin Asherman, a ten-year industry veteran who was looking to relocate from Chicago knew she found her new salon home when she walked into Salon Hype, “It’s the only ‘city’ salon you can find in the suburbs that meets the caliber of the styling talent you find in the city,” said Asherman. In addition to cutting and doing color, Asherman loves styling hair for weddings and special events, with up-dos being her specialty. She take appointments at the La Grange salon Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays.

Andrea Skaltsas is also a city transplant. After working in Chicago for 17 years she wanted to be close to home where she could connect with her neighbors. She also connected with Salon Hype’s urban vibe, “Salon Hype is highly regarded, the best salon in the western suburbs. It’s warm and inviting, not pretentious and I felt welcome from day one,” she said. Skaltsas considers herself a colorist, first and foremost, and makes sure her clients go home loving their hair. “Color – everyone can use color! It’s not just for camouflaging gray, it brightens a complexion, adds shine, texture and makes hair so much more interesting to look at,” added Skaltsas, who sees clients on Thursday and Fridays.

Paula Wilkinson, who grew up in La Grange, has been a stylist working in the western suburbs for ten years and joined Salon Hype in October. “I was really wowed by the amount of talent Ross has brought in to Salon Hype. It’s great fun to be around such a talented group, the salon is always busy and it has a great vibe. I felt at home immediately!” While she’s earned a loyal client following for her expert eye for color and highlights, Wilkinson loves the artistry involved as a stylist and admits she likes to cut men’s hair the best. She can be found at the La Grange salon on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
