Home Helpers of Hinsdale earns national bureau's A+ rating

With more than 6,000 home health agencies in the United States and dozens right here in the Hinsdale area, finding someone to care for a loved one isn’t hard. But finding the right agency for the job can be.

The Home Care Standards Bureau (HCSB) has made it easier to find the best care available by honoring the best companies in the business. Home Helpers of Hinsdale is among the first to be recognized with an HCSB A+ rating.

“We have always been committed to providing only the best, most compassionate care for our clients,” said Mary Doepke, RN, president and co-owner of Home Helpers in Hinsdale. “To be recognized for doing so is an honor that is much deserved by our dedicated team of caregivers.”

Established in 2013, the HCSB A+ rating is new, but Home Helpers has met the criteria necessary to obtain the rating since the company began providing care in 2005, Doepke said.

To achieve an A+ rating from HCSB, an agency must maintain the highest care standards.Those standards include extensive background checks for all caregivers. Caregivers must also undergo a minimum of 15 hours training, along with continuing education.

“We are dedicated to ensuring high quality standards from our A+ rated home care agencies,” said Josie Hall, operations manager for the Colorado-based agency.

Once achieved, A+ agencies such as Home Helpers must submit monthly disclosure statements to ensure that those standards are being maintained. A+ agencies also are subject to planned and surprise audits by the HCSB.

“Our recognition as an A+ agency provides further assurance to our clients and their families that Home Helpers will provide only the very best of care,” Doepke said.
