Women’s Wellness Fair is a Walk in the Park

Waiola Park will be filled with over 30 local health and wellness businesses September 23 for the second annual Women's Wellness Walkabout.

Busy moms are always trying to find ways to get more done in less time. The Women’s Wellness Walkabout at was created with that in mind.

Kathi Mungo, owner of BargainsForMom.com and co-sponsor said “moms spend the majority of their time taking care of everybody else and they run out of time when it comes to themselves. We wanted to make it easy for them to find small ways to feel better, have more energy, improve their health and ultimately live longer."

The second annual event will take place Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon at at the corner of 47th Street and Waiola Avenue. Over 30 local health and wellness businesses will be on hand that include representatives from local health clubs, boot camps, personal training, yoga and pilates studios, chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, athletic gear, skin care, nutritionists, running groups, physical therapists and more.

This outdoor event was designed for the busy women. What better way to get useful information and talk to professionals than while taking a walk in the park? There will be demonstrations, giveaways, free lessons and a lot of useful information.

Julie Hossack, owner of Finish Line Fit Club and co-sponsor of the event, hopes that through this event, "Women will have the opportunity to find some healthful habits that they can incorporate into their own lives. Being healthy isn't an all-or-nothing proposition. Sometimes it just takes changing a small habit to make a huge positive change."

Sally Head, owner of and another co-sponsor of the event, added that, "The Health and Wellness Fair is a also good reminder to La Grange area women that they don't need to go very far to find high quality fitness, nutrition and health related businesses with so many that are right here in our own backyard." 

There will even be raffles which include items and gift certificates from every participating business. Every time you visit a sponsor’s booth, you will be given a ticket that will be entered into the raffle. Raffle winners will be picked and announced every half hour during the walkabout.

In case of rain the event will be moved to the , 536 East Ave.

So make some time for yourself and learn about some changes you can make to improve your busy life while taking a relaxing stroll in the park.
