La Grange Park Hosts 2nd Annual Bike Fest on Saturday

Sponsored by the La Grange Park Business Association, the event aims to help residents get to know the local business community and educate kids about safe bike riding practices.

Sponsored by the La Grange Park Business Association (LGPBA), the event brings cyclists and La Grange Park businesses together for an education on both, according to Sheri Sauer, president of the LGPBA.

"It's going to be a ton of fun, and you might even win a free bike," Sauer said.

Bike Fest will be held in the Village Market on the 300 block of north La Grange Road from 9-11 a.m. this Saturday, June 9. Local businesses will have booths with free giveaways and projects for attendees and will be on hand to register bikes. Attendees of the fest will also get a chance to enter into a raffle to win a new bike.

The fest is also an opportunity for kids and adults alike to learn the rules of the road for cyclists and get helpful safety tips. Also this year, employees from will be available to perform bike adjustments free of charge.

Sauer said she's expecting an even bigger turnout for the event's second year. Over 200 people showed up for last year's event, and with a hot and sunny weekend coming up, expectations for the event are high.

"It's a great event for summer," Sauer said. "And it's another chance for our businesses to give back to the community."
