Dominick's Open Until Dec. 28, But Product Reduction Underway

The store was recently sold by Safeway, the parent company of Dominick's, and will become a Mariano's some time in the coming months.

Dominick's in Western Springs will remain open through Dec. 28, store manager Tom Odette said, but product availability will gradually decrease between now and then as the store reduces its inventory before closing its doors.

"We have already begun the reduction process," Odette said Monday afternoon.

The grocery store located in the Garden Market Shopping Center was among those recently purchased by Roundy's and slated to become a Mariano's.

A set date for the Mariano's opening in Western Springs has not yet been released, but the Chicago Tribune reports that the 11 Dominick's locations purchased by Roundy's will become Mariano's beginning the first quarter of 2014.

Western Springs village manager Patrick Higgins said the Dominick's facility is in good shape and he doesn’t expect many renovations to the space will be necessary.
