St. Francis Xavier Music Teacher Wins Two Grammy Awards

Diane Bryks, a member of the Chicago Symphony Chorus, performed on the best classical album of the year and the best orchestral performance of the year.

Diane Bryks has been the music teacher at , 145 N. Waiola Ave., for more than 30 years. In addition to teaching music, she also performs. Bryks started singing with the Chicago Symphony Chorus in 1983 and has been a professional member with them ever since. The chorus recently won two Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

In 2010, the Chicago Symphony Chorus won the Best Classical Album Grammy Award and the Best Choral Performance Grammy Award for "Guiseppe Verdi: Messa da Requiem" with Riccardo Muti as conductor, Duain Wolfe as chorus director and Christopher Alder as producer.

The award winning CD was produced on the CSO-RESOUND label, the in-house record label of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. It was recorded live during Riccardo Muti’s first performances with the Chicago Symphony as music director designate. The concerts took place at sold-out concerts in January 2009. The CD was released in September 2010 selling almost 7,000 copies to date. The CD is available for purchase here.

How exciting for Bryks and the entire chorus and how fortunate her students are to have a Grammy winning music teacher right here in La Grange.
