Preschool Thanksgiving Feast and 'Stone Soup' Active Play

The Ready Teddy Preschool housed at the Community Park District in LaGrange Park takes the time each year to celebrate Thanksgiving in a unique way. The Pre-K classes celebrate this day by having their own version of the First Thanksgiving, dressing in costume and having a feast they help to prepare in their classes. But that's not all!

The 4 and 5 year old classes at Ready Teddy Preschool are acting out the story they have studied, "Stone Soup".  A story of sharing and thankfulness, which helps the kids to understand better what Thanksgiving is about.  Each class will prepare a pot of soup, which will follow the story and will also cook corn bread and pudding for their Thanksgiving Feast Day.

Students will be wearing costumes they have made as "pioneers" and there will be a demonstration of other pioneer clothing and artifacts.  The gym will be set with tables holding decoration the students have made and all will be seated together to enjoy the dramatized story and the bounty of foods.

This year the event will take place on November 18. The morning class will have their feast from 10:15 - 11:30 am, while the afternoon class will feast from 2:00 - 3:00 pm. If you're interested in this event and wish to learn more about it, please contact the Ready Teddy Preschool hotline at 708-354-4157.
