Winter Weather Projected to be Worst in Nation

Some long-range projections are coming in and the news isn't good.

Are you ready for another crummy winter weather season? Long-range predictions are coming in that say the Chicago area could be in for another harsh winter.

AccuWeather.com forecasters are predicting the Chicago area will see colder than normal temps and nearly twice the normal amount of snow, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Additionally, AccuWeather is predicting 50 to 58 inches of snow for the season, and temps slightly below normal. Snowfall during a “normal winter” is usually around 30.2 inches.

However, snowfalls are expected to be more frequent and less heavy, according to AccuWeather, the Sun-Times is reporting.

The Chicago Tribune, for its efforts, tapped additional weather prognosticators for their thoughts. The National Weather Service didn't necessarily agree with the idea of the snowfall being more frequent and less heavy. They expect snowfall to be at average levels and claim there is a “definite possibility” for a heavy storm like the blizzard of 2011, according to the Tribune.

Readers, are you prepared for another harsh winter?
