Winter Weather Advisory Issued for New Year's Eve in Northern Illinois

If you're planning to go out on New Year's Eve, you may want to keep an eye on the forecast.

Much of northern Illinois is under awinter weather advisory from 4 p.m. Tuesday until 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. The advisory area includes the following counties: Lake, McHenry, Cook, DuPage, Kane, Boone, Ogle, DeKalb and Winnebago.

While some snow fell overnight Monday, the heavier snow is forecast to fall from Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning, with 3 to 5 inches of snow expected

"Be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities," according to National Weather Service officials.
