More Severe Weather on the Way
National Weather Service issues thunderstorm warning for Cook County.
The National Weather Service is warning residents of Cook County (and really most of Illinois) that more severe weather is on the way.
A thunderstorm watch is in effect. The storm is capable of producing quarter-sized pieces of hail, deadly lightning, winds in excess of 60 mph and "very heavy rain," according to a warning released by NWS.
With a flood warning in effect as well, drivers are reminded to not drive through flooded streets. Even low levels of water can prevent a vehicle from crossing and could trap drivers.
