Meet Duke Saban: Excited Fan of the Annual La Grange Pet Parade

Meet Big Duke, a pet parade regular who is excited for this year's La Grange Pet Parade.

My name is Duke Saban. My family and friends call me “Big Duke,” but I secretly would prefer being called “confident stud.” I am extremely excited about this year’s 65th Annual La Grange Pet Parade!

I remember when my dad took me to the pet parade for the first time when I was just a little youngster back in 2006. Well, I would hardly call myself little because I was already 5’9” at the age of 2. My dad knew I was going to grow up to be of great stature. He was right. I’m 49 years old, in human years that is, and I’m 6’2” and 180 pounds!  Part of me thinks I’m a horse, but a large part of that could be due to people saying to my dad “you’ve got a beautiful horse.” I know they’re joking, but it still warms my heart to hear it. I like horses.

I have to say that I’m mostly looking forward to seeing all the kids, and I know that they’ll be just as excited to see me.  Look out for me in the Vulcan Materials float. We’re number 35! I’ll probably be surrounded by my partners of the La Grange Indian Guides and Princesses.
