LTHS Celebrates 125 Years, St. Francis a School of Excellence

St. Francis Xavier School named as 2013 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence: U.S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, announced Tuesday that St. Francis Xavier School in La Grange has been recognized as a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.  Saint Francis Xavier was one of only 50 private schools nationwide to receive this prestigious award.  Of the nearly 135,000 public and private schools in the United States, fewer than 7,500 have received the honor since the Blue Ribbon program began in 1982.

Naz seniors named Commended Scholars: Deborah Tracy, Principal of Nazareth Academy, announced that Matthew O’Hea and Kiley Roache, both of La Grange Park, have been named Commended Scholars in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program. 

LT Theatre Board presents “Homecomings”: The Lyons Township High School Theatre Board proudly presents “Homecomings,” an original piece created by the Junior/Senior ensemble. Faculty member Ann Dudek is the director and junior Maddy Brennan is assisting. 

Special look inside the LTHS clock tower: In honor of Lyons Township High School’s 125th anniversary, a special video was created illustrating the rarely seen inner workings of the bells inside the iconic North Campus clock tower. LT's clock tower was designed by architect Joseph C. Llewellyn and was inspired by towers found in northern Italy. It was part of the important school addition begun in 1926 and completed in 1928.  The bells were installed in March of that year.
