LTHS Community Rocks Out for Blake Donnegan This Saturday

Niemann Pick C disease may have robbed Blake Donnegan of his ability to speak, but not his laugh or smile.

For 18-year-old Blake Donegan, life has been anything but normal. The Lyons Township High School student has been diagnosed with Niemann Pick C disease, a terminal neurologic disorder which causes frequent seizures 24/7, making normal life impossible. The disease has robbed him of his ability to speak, but not his laugh or smile.

The LTHS community is teaming up to host a charity rock concert in Blake’s honor -- iRock for Blake -- at the Lyons Township student activity center LT Corral this Saturday, April 19.

Blake’s mother, Angela, a single mom, had to quit her job because her son now requires constant care. With the  exorbitant medical bills facing them, he and his family are in imminent danger of losing their home. Doctors have advised that moving Blake will be extremely detrimental to his already fragile health. His family is quickly running out of options.

In addition to the music, the evening features ping pong, pool and raffle prizes donated by some great local businesses. Admission is free, but donations at the door will be gratefully accepted.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for the Donegan family. All donations go directly to helping the Donegan family stay in their home and pay for Blake's medical bills. “iRock for Blake” T-shirts will also be sold at the event.

iRockforBlake kicks off from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at LT Corral, 4940 Willow Springs Rd., Western Springs. For more information about concert, to donate a prize or volunteer, contact irockforblake@yahoo.com.
