La Grange Resident on the Big Screen in 2011?

Jeff Ownby, a La Grange resident, was recently an extra in a Steven Soderbergh movie that filmed portions in Downers Grove.

In October 2011 Contagion, a global thriller directed by Academy Award winner Steven Soderbergh, is expected to hit theaters nationally. Jeff Ownby, a La Grange resident, hopes to see himself in a scene that was recently filmed at the Sara Lee offices in Downers Grove.

"Contagion is about an international outbreak of some kind of virus. There are multiple storylines of people searching for the cause in different countries. In this case, a woman employed by a company called AIMM, in Minnesota (filmed at Sara Lee in Downers Grove) dies and a doctor with the CDC (Kate Winslet) is trying to track down the cause and interview employees to see if an outbreak is pending," said Ownby, explaining the plot.

When asked about his part Ownby replied, "My role as an extra was supposed to be as an employee of AIMM but I ended up being a visitor in the lobby as Kate comes in to investigate. So I will be on camera as Kate walks to the elevators assuming they don't cut the scene."
