La Grange Area Historical Society Trivia Night

The annual fundraiser still has some spots available for the Nov. 5 event.

The , 444 S. La Grange Road, main fundraiser every year is their Trivia Night. It’s a night of fun, trivia and competition at the , 536 East Ave. The event is ‘Ravinia Style’ and contestants are encouraged to bring their own snack and beverages. This is an over twenty-one event so beer and wine are permitted.

I talked to Karen Lynch, President of the LGAHS about the upcoming fundraiser. She gave me a little history of the fierce competition this event tends to bring out. The first year the neighbors on the 100 South block of Madison Ave. were the champs with the Miss Patty and librarians from the , 10 W. Cossitt Ave., coming in second. The next year the winners were flipped with the librarians coming in first. That’s when the teasing and taunting about who was going to win the upcoming year began. Last year the librarians were the champs once again.

This year Lynch will not be competing because she is the planner of the event. So the question is, “Who can unseat the librarians this year?” Are you full of useless information? Do you have friends that always seem to know a little about everything? Why not put together a team and participate?

Space is limited and registration is required. Tables of eight are available for $150 or individual contestants can sign-up for $20 per person. The night of fun is Nov. 5 with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the game starting at 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for first and last place. There will also be lots of door and raffles prizes along with a silent auction. The get a registration form, click here.

Lynch wants to encourage all to come out for the fun even if you aren’t a trivia buff; “Personally, I don't know trivia... my big contribution one year was knowing the dog names on TV shows. I go for the social aspect of the night and I leave the trivia to people like my husband Dan who are filled with tons of useless knowledge. I'd encourage everyone to come on out... Maybe you will win the round of La Grange Trivia. Don't think because you are not good at Trivial Pursuit you won’t do good at this. Also, who cares if you don't know any trivia... just get a group of friends together and have a social night out.  It's really a pretty cheap night out and you are helping a local charity.  It is a win, win for everyone!!!”
