Easter Egg Hunts Roll into La Grange and Western Springs

We've got a roundup of the area Easter egg hunts—and bunny appearances.

Here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail and right into La Grange and Western Springs for Easter egg hunts for both kids and tweens.

The best part? Most of the hunts are on the same morning but staggered enough that particularly organized parents can cart their kids to all three towns in one fell swoop. (That must be how the Easter Bunny is managing to make appearances at all of them, as well.)

Sedgwick Park

This after-dark experience helps slightly older kids reclaim the thrill they got as they barreled through the park during egg hunts of yore. Bring your own flashlight and basket to fill with candy-stuffed eggs. The hunt is for 9-12 year olds and will take place from 8-8:15 p.m. Don’t leave without checking your eggs: Some will contain a ticket good for a larger prize. The Tween Flashlight Egg Hunt costs $3 and pre-registration is open until Friday. Hosted by the park district.

10 a.m.

Sedgwick Park

The Easter Bunny is scheduled to make an appearance at this classic, free hunt, which is geared toward little kids younger than 8. Each age group will have its own area and time for the hunt so the 3-year-olds won’t be wrestling the 7-year-olds for eggs. One egg per age group will hold a golden ticket that the lucky kid can trade for a mega-sized Easter basket. The bunny himself is scheduled to be around from 9:30-10:45 a.m. for pictures. (Bring your own camera!) The age group brackets are as follows: age 3 and younger at 10 a.m.; age 4-5 at 10:10 a.m.; and age 6-8 at 10:20 a.m. Hosted by the park district.

The Easter Bunny will also be stopping by La Grange Park’s Easter Egg Hunt, where he’ll be handing out treats after kids collect their eggs. This free event will begin at 11 a.m. sharp, so don’t be late! Kids 8 and younger will be divided by age group for the hunt. Hosted by the park district.

Tower Green

This free event features pictures with the Easter Bunny and eggs for every child—but they’ll go fast. The Western Springs Business Association says it’s the “year’s quickest event.”
