Whats up with that place?......Six great mysteries of Lagrange

With all this talk of politics, I thought we should change it up a little. Here's a few LG mysteries which I hope will encourage a few light hearted responses.....

Tax vs. Penatly?  Pensions bankrupting the state? John Kass is watching us?  Serious subject matter and the endless quest for the last word is exausting.  So, lets take a break shall we?  Ever drive around town and wonder (in an homage to Seinfeld) "whats the deal with that place?" I do. So here's a few places that I'm dying to know just what goes on in there.  The more savvy reader will understand that I'm in no way disparaging any of the places/people/businesses mentioned and just trying to have a little fun. To the rest, I'm in no way disparaging any of the places/people/businesses mentioned and just trying to have a little fun.  I've always been a champion of our local economy (ie support the little guy!) and I'm hoping this will encourage people to go into go into these places depite the wierd factor. I've avoided naming any specific houses or people (oh yeah...there's some scarys out there) in order to keep the conversation fun & lively.

Mason’s Camp / 47th St.

There’s a Freemasons (known for their compass symbol, pyramids, secret handshake, new world order, etc) children’s camp on 47th across from Sedgwick Park on the East end of town.  I’ve never seen anyone there or any activity whatsoever?  Much like the Mason’s themselves, it’s wrapped in mystery.

Mod Hair Salon / Arcade Place

I’m dating myself…do they still call them “hair salons”?  Here’s a place that could not be in a worse location(an alley), didn’t get any props in the Best of LG postings yet I’m sure has a very loyal clientele.  I don’t know how many people work there but if it’s more than one, I give them a lot of credit for existing in such a small space!

Marine Navigation Inc / Lagrange Road

The internet tells me that this is THE place for nautical charts & maps in the midwest.  I’m just wondering who goes in there?  Pirates?

The Clipper Ship / Harris Ave.

See Marine Navigation Inc.

Harders / Burlington Ave.

You’ve seen it in the Chevy commercial, they always have some pretty “cherry” classic muscle cars they’re working on but…has anyone ever gone in there?  I’m sure they do a terrific job but I’m just afraid it’s some portal to 1960-something and I wont be able to get back to present day!

The benches of the Stone Avenue Station.

A few years ago, some of the benches in the Stone Ave. station were removed and refinished.  The only problem is that only about ½ of them came back!  Where are the missing ones?
