After a major health crisis many patients wonder what is the next best step? Research shows that exercise can improve the health of a person with a chronic condition, but should be done under a physician’s care. Loyola Center for Health is offering medically based fitness programs designed for individuals transitioning from or currently managing a medical condition. Participants do not need to be a member of the fitness center to participate in these 8-week programs.
Exercise is the best medicine for disease prevention and management. Our programs offer the education and support participants need to help them meet their goals.
The programs are specifically designed to meet the exercise needs of people who are looking to better their health due to:
- Cancer (post treatment)
- Cardiac conditions (post rehab)
- Arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus or other autoimmune conditions
- Orthopaedic conditions pre or post-surgery or re-occurring injuries
- Pulmonary or respiratory conditions (post rehab)
- Transitioning from a sedentary lifestyle
- Weight management
Participants must have a referral from their healthcare provider to participate. Each 8-week session includes a before and after assessment, individualized exercise plan, two 60-minute group workout sessions under the supervision of a fitness specialist, unlimited access to the Loyola Center for Fitness amenities and a summary report for you and your physician. If participants are interested in becoming members the fitness center membership fee will be waived after completion of the 8-week program.
