Legacy Guild awards 23 college scholarships

The Legacy Guild, a La Grange-area not-for-profit, has announced its second class of Legacy Guild Scholars.  Twenty-three scholarships – $2,175 each for a total of $50,025 awarded this year – have been presented to students living in Lyons Township District 204 who have had a parent die while being raised in the area.

According to Bob Brogan, La Grange resident and Scholarship Chairman of the Legacy Guild, “We recently had an opportunity to personally meet the Scholars and they are an outstanding group of young men and women.  It was very humbling and bittersweet as we learned about the moms or dads they’ve lost, and also about the strength of each Scholar’s surviving parent.  We’re very proud that the community has come together to support their college education through the Legacy Guild Scholars program.”

The Legacy Guild was formed in 2012 by a group of men from LaGrange and surrounding areas drawn together after a cluster of sudden and unexpected deaths of some great friends and neighbors.  The Guild formed within weeks of these tragic events to offer support to each other and to transcend our grief and sorrow. Our fellowship group is Christian-based – yet welcomes all religions – and meets regularly to discuss important issues, including how to be a better father, husband, son, brother, neighbor and friend.

The Legacy Guild Scholars program developed as an extension of these regular meetings.
