MWRD Board issues resolution to honor Martin Luther King’s birthday

The MWRD continues to observe the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birth.

Just as the country recognized the importance of the life of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and declared his birth a national holiday on January 20, 1986, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) continues to observe this important celebration annually.

“The observation of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birth is a holiday that is observed in over 100 countries, so not only has his work helped to make the United States a place where equality and justice prevail, but his efforts and his legacy have circled the globe,” said Vice President Barbara McGowan during the Board’s regular meeting held January 17.

The MWRD will be hosting a special celebration to commemorate Dr. King’s legacy and Black History Month in February.
