A message on the village website reads: "The La Grange Police Department encourages residents to be aware of their surroundings when walking alone at night. Be aware of strangers approaching you. Change your direction of travel or attempt to remove yourself from a situation which may feel threatening. Parents are encouraged to discuss situational awareness with their children."
Between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. Friday, two men demanded money from the boys, police said. In one incident, one of the victims complied while the other refused, causing a struggle with the offender.
No one was injured, and the offenders did not imply they had any weapons, police said.
Both cases are still under investigation.
Residents are encouraged to call 9-1-1 immediately if they or their children encounter any suspicious persons or observe any suspicious activity, day or night.
