More About Lyons Township High School South Campus
District 204's one and only school, Lyons Township High School, has a north campus for juniors and seniors in La Grange, and this south campus for freshmen and sophomores in Western Springs. The school's more than 3,500 students come from the cities and villages of La Grange, Western Springs, Burr Ridge, Countryside, Hodgkins, Indian Head Park, La Grange Highlands, La Grange Park, McCook, Brookfield and Willow Springs. Functioning in a manner similar to a college, the school requires 23 credits to graduate and operates Monday through Friday for seven 51-minute periods.
Its academic departments include applied technology, art, business education, driver education, family and consumer sciences, foreign language, language arts, mathematics, music, physical education and health, science, social studies, special education and adult education.
LT, as the school is known to locals, has seen notable public officials, academics and artists pass through its halls since its doors opened in 1888: "Baywatch" actor David Hasselhoff graduated in 1970, and Ron Huberman, the former head of the Chicago Transit Authority and current chief executive officer of the Chicago Public Schools, graduated in 1990.
