Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

About this column:

The week's best stories from your West Suburban Chicago Patch sites.
If last week was the West Suburban Patch "Fire Edition," we'd have to call this week "Crime Edition," with both new and old burglaries, break-ins, hold-ups and worse dominating the news. Between robberies in Wheaton and Geneva, updates on serious cases from Willowbrook, Indian Head Park and Elmhurst, juvenile delinquency in St. Charles and Batavia, and a man confessing to dozens of vehicle break-ins ... well, if crime news isn't up your alley, skip to the bottom for news about developing Lisle and a neat piece about a Glen Ellyn cobbler. Check out any or all of the following: La Grange/La …
A lot of Patch coverage this week was focused on Thanksgiving-themed topics, but there were certainly also major events throughout the west-suburban Chicago area that didn't have to do with turkey (or your meal of choice.) Out in the further west, we found some negative news with a scary robbery and a tragic plane accident; closer to the city, we have more on the positive side with a lucky attic find and an inspirational fundraiser. And in-between, a nude guy, a fake kidnapping and a crazy cool high-school lip-dub! Check out any or all of the following: Batavia—UPDATE: Batavia Police Respond …
Our best Patch stories this week range from scary to heartwarming to a bit comical, and we think it's a pretty good collection. We've got crime (a man throws a rock through a school and threatens to blow it up, an prison inmate accused of soliciting murders), volunteerism (fundraisers for slain teen Kelli O'Laughlin, a community coming together to support food pantries) and the fascinatingly bizarre (spas running a prostitution ring, nails embedded in Halloween candy.) Whatever your taste in Patch news, check out any or all of the following: Lisle—Body Found in Four Lakes, Police Suspect …
On Thursday, Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou resigned amid the European country's mounting massive debt crisis. But did you know that long before running an economically-troubled country, Papandreou went to school right here in the west Chicago suburbs? Yes, before he was a prime minister, he was a Duke—a York Duke, that is. In other news, while details are still cloudy about the pedestrian killed by a train on the BNSF railway in Downers Grove on Wednesday, Patch does have a viewer account of the accident (although some commenters believe it may not have been an accident.) And from …
A terrible tragedy in Indian Head Park this week leads both of our roundup stories this week, and a shocking story of a different stort comes in from Elmhurst. Also, a star Glen Ellyn football player will shine on a big stage, and the Hinsdale and Claredon Hills police departments are considering making a big change. On the somewhat lighter side, the second time was the charm for a Western Springs tree with dreams of Chicago glory. Check out any or all of the following: La Grange—Updated: Police Suspect Slain Girl Walked In on Burglary; Seeking Man of Interest—Indian Head Park resident Kelli …
Welcome to the second week of Patch Roundup! Some of our most important stories from your West Chicago region this week include a potential murder, a pair of fires, a missing teenager and a potentially irresponsible parent. Hinsdale—Police Searching for Runaway Hinsdale Teen—A 15-year-old Hinsdale girl has been …

Check out any or all of the following: Wheaton—FBI, Police Searching for Man After Bank Robbery in Wheaton—Officials are looking for a tall white 20-something man who is accused of robbing the TCF Bank branch at a Wheaton Jewel-Osco.
