On Dec. 2, students at St. Francis Xavier School participated in a day of service. All 600 students pitched in one way or another to celebrate the model of their patron saint. Students packed food at Feed My Starving Children, caroled to shoppers buying warm clothes for the parish's coat drive and more. Each grade level was matched with a theme and preformed their service work at various locations around the Chicago area. It took 15 buses to get the students where they needed to go! Thanks to Mary Fitzpatrick for sending over these photos of students serving their community.
Members of the La Grange Park Department of Public Works wear a lot of hats—and no, not just hard hats and snow caps! Employees keep busy trimming branches, making mulch, tearing up and repaving roads, monitoring storm water systems, as well as a whole host of other duties. They're the guys on the road who keep the village moving smoothly. Take a look at this in-depth video by David Karaffa of DK Productions. Karaffa and former Public Works Director Julius Hansen take you on a tour of La Grange Park to show you what these guys do in rain, shine, snow and what seems like every other weather …

My name is Duke Saban. My family and friends call me “Big Duke,” but I secretly would prefer being called “confident stud.” I am extremely excited about this year’s 65th Annual La Grange Pet Parade! I remember when my dad took me to the pet parade for the first time when I was just a little youngster back in 2006. Well, I would hardly call myself little because I was already 5’9” at the age of 2. My dad knew I was going to grow up to be of great stature. He was right. I’m 49 years old, in human years that is, and I’m 6’2” and 180 pounds!  Part of me thinks I’m a horse, but a large part of …
