The 3rd grade students at Saint Francis Xavier school in La Grange recently collected over 700 items at their warm clothing drive. Students then sorted and bagged all the collected coats, hats, gloves and scarves. The items were delivered to Marillac House on Chicago's west side and will be sold at their annual warm clothing sale taking place on December 7. Marillac House hosts this annual sale to provide warm clothing at a low cost to members of the community and funds from the sale help senior citizens pay their winter heating bills.
The third graders will be present at the sale and see their donations at work. The warm clothing drive was part of the 3rd grade service theme - poverty. Each grade at Saint Francis Xavier has a different service theme and a highlight of the all-school service program takes place on December 7 when all 600 students will go out into the community to do service projects.
