RMR Boost Possible?
Since your resting metabolic rate (RMR) accounts for the largest portion of your metabolism it’s no wonder everyone is looking for a way to boost it. It would be so easy if you could put your metabolism into overdrive and go to sleep. Many have tried to convince us this is possible through eating hot peppers, drinking green tea, or getting wired on caffeine. Not to mention the billion dollar market of pharmaceutical pills out there.
However, none of these have scientifically influenced resting metabolic rate. Yes, maybe they give you a momentary boost but nothing significant. The other problem is many of these approaches produce dangerous side effects.
Spending hours at a time in freezing conditions or soaking in a total body ice bath may also boost your metabolism, but is this really sustainable?
The BAD NEWS: Resting metabolic rate is pretty much genetic and cannot be drastically changed. So don’t waste your money on the “magic pill”. There is nothing that is going to flip your metabolic switch and cause extra body weight to fall away or enable you to overeat to your heart’s content...stay tuned for the GOOD NEWS!
