Weekend: Outdoor Antique Market Comes to La Grange Park Sunday

Get in with the old and out with the new at the La Grange Park Collectible and Antique Outdoor Market Sept. 9.

Looking for something that's old, but new to you?

This Sunday, Sept. 9, 31st Street in La Grange Park will be packed full of antique vendors with items priced to sell at the La Grange Park Antique and Collectible Outdoor Market.

This yearly event has been going on for over 10 years in La Grange's antique district. Organized by Heart's Desire, La Grange Park Antique Mall and 31st Street Antiques, it's the best time this year to get a great deal.

In addition to the three great local businesses mentioned above, 25 additional vendors will be displaying their wares with a sidewalk sale at the outdoor market. According to Sue Hull, owner of Heart's Desire, the vendors run the gambit from personal collectors to friends looking to clean out their attics—so there's no telling what shoppers will find.

"We're cleaning out for the season, so there's lots of great items to see," said Hull. “It’s a lot of fun for us and for our customers too."

Items for sale include jewelry, furniture, rare books, glassware, clothes and lots of random knick-knacks.

"It's a really wide range," Hull said. "It's really amazing what people bring."

The market will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with special deals inside the shops and out on the street. Heart's Desire will be offering 20 percent off purchases inside the store and deep discounts on inventory on the sidewalk.

Our area is looking at some perfect antique-hunting weather this weekend too. The skies will be sunny and temperatures will be in the upper 70s.

See you there.

All Ceylon teas have a distinct flavor that is different from Indian and
Asian teas. Ceylon is a very mild tea, and is often recommended for new
tea drinkers since it has lots of flavor, but retains its mildness
