La Grange Highlands School Closes Due to Water Main Break, Will Re-Open Friday

A broken water main on Plainfield Road has caused facilities at Highlands Elementary and Middle schools to be closed for the day. Classes will resume on a normal schedule on Friday.

A water main break on Plainfield Road near La Grange Highlands Elementary and Middle schools caused the building to be closed for the day and classes canceled.

The school alerted parents to the schools’ closing before classes began this morning, and posted an alert on their website at about 6:30 a.m. this morning.

According to a spokeswoman at the school, afterschool activities and clubs will be canceled today as well.

Classes and afterschool activities will resume tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 7 on a normal schedule.

The water main break caused significant flooding near the school, and officials decided to cancel classes for the day because they didn’t no how long the water main would take a repair.

An update posted on the school’s website at 11:23 a.m., informs parents that the water main break has been repaired. Air is being bled out of the pipes to have the facility read to re-open tomorrow.

If more information becomes available, we’ll let you know. Tell us how your students are spending their day off of school in comments.
