Students with Special Needs Perform 'Willy Wonka'
The classic is being performed by students in Lyons Township's Transition Program; the two lead roles are both being played by La Grange men.
Twenty-six members of Lyons Township High School's Transition Program for students with special needs are producing two performances of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" at the school's South Campus this weekend, The Doings La Grange reports.
The paper notes that La Grange residents David Deveno, 24, and Doug Toops, 18, each of La Grange, play Charlie Bucket and Willy Wonka, respectively.
“We’re trying something a little different than a classic musical,” director Christine Rehak-Grohne told the paper.
The show will be performed at South Campus at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, and Sunday, Nov. 18. Tickets are $5.
