School Bus Crash at 40th and Howard Injures Two LT Students
Two Lyons students spent brief time in a La Grange hospital after a car rear-ended a school bus in Western Springs.
According to a release from the Chicago Breaking News Center, a Lyons Township school bus was involved in an accident in Western Springs Friday morning that sent two students to the hospital.
The bus was rear-ended by a Chevrolet van at about 7:56 a.m. after the bus stalled at the corner of 40th Street and Howard Avenue. It was transporting 24 students from LTHS North Campus, 100 S. Brainard Ave., to the Technology Center of DuPage in Addison.
Two students said that they had back pain after the crash, and were transported to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital. Their injuries were minor, and they were released later in the day. The other 22 students were returned to Lyons Township North by an alternate bus; none complained of any injury.
Officials told the CBNC that the driver of the van was given a ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
