MONDAY, OCT. 29
One Headlight, No License
Imelda Gutierrez-Herrera, 36, of the 4000 block of Oak Park Avenue, Stickney, was stopped at the corner of 31st Street and Kemman Ave. at 3:59 p.m. because she was driving with only one headlight, police said. She was charged with driving with no valid license and with no proof of insurance.
Copper Tubing Theft
Approximately $1,000 of copper tubing was stolen from a house under construction on the 500 block of Newberry Avenue at an unspecified time. The copper was reportedly cut from exposed utility lines.

Ruse-Entry "Gypsy Scam"
A resident of the 1500 block of Harrison Avenue was reportedly the victim of what the La Grange Park Police department called a “gypsy scam,” also known as a “ruse-entry” burglary. Police said the resident was distracted by a person claiming to have just purchased a neighboring house, while accomplices stole $2,500 from the resident’s home. The thieves left in a white Ford SUV, police said. (The La Grange Park Police department issued a specific warning for residents to “beware of persons impersonating contractors or utility workers.”)

Bad Words on Sign
Someone spray-painted obscenities on a street sign on the 1100 block of Newberry Avenue at an unspecified time. Public Works was contacted to replace the sign.
TUESDAY, OCT. 23
Suspended License Charge
Melissa A. Duplessis, 33, of the 8400 block of South 86th Avenue, Justice, was stopped at the corner of Brainard Avenue and 31st Street at 1:53 a.m. because she didn't have a rear registration light, police said. She was charged with driving with a suspended license and no proof of insurance.
MONDAY, OCT. 22
No Signal, No License
Ebony S. Coleman, 29, of the 1900 block of South 17th Avenue, Broadview, was stopped at the corner of La Grange Road and 31st Street at 7:35 p.m. because he lacked a rear registration light and made a turn without signaling. He was charged with driving without a valid license.
SUNDAY, OCT. 21
Another Suspended License
Tony D. Johnson, 23, of the 500 block of East End Avenue, Hillside, was stopped on the 1600 block of La Grange Road at 7:57 a.m. because his registration was expired, police said. He was charged with driving with a suspended license.
SATURDAY, OCT. 20
Spencer S. Durland, 19, of the 4100 block of Deyo Avenue, Brookfield, was stopped at the corner of 31st Street and Beach Avenue because he made an illegal left turn at 1:05 a.m., police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after an officer suspected him of being intoxicated, police said. Durland failed sobriety tests and admitted to being drunk, police said.
