According to Kuhn, Feb. 13 and 14 are the chocolate shop's two busiest days of the year. In fact, they're so busy, they need to call in reinforcements to handle the extra work.

"It's bigger than Christmas for us," Kuhn said. "I couldn't do it without the extra help."

Each year she calls on a few of her friends to come in and help staff her stores. Kuhn said she rewards her extra helper with yearlong discounts on Rocky Mountain's products.

It's all About the Strawberries

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory has a lot of treats to choose from, but there are a few products that stand out.

"It's all about the strawberries," Kuhn said.

It's an item you can't go wrong with, Kuhn said. They're hand-dipped fresh daily in white, milk and dark chocolate. The store sells so many chocolate-covered strawberries this time of year, it's constantly dipping throughout the day to keep up with demand.

"We come in early and start dipping so we're ready when we open," Kuhn said. "And then we keep dipping throughout the day so we don't run out."

If you pre-order by Feb. 12 (to help the store's staff out on their busiest days), customers will receive $5 off their purchase of a dozen chocoalte dipped strawberries.

Kuhn also recommended picking up some of the store's specialty caramel apples as a way to change things up, but said they also carry already packaged heart-shaped boxes of chocolate and an assortment of chocolates right from the case, if you'd prefer to go traditional.

So, what's a lady who is surrounded by chocolate every day get for Valentine's Day? Kuhn said she goes out for a special dinner at her and her husband's favorite Mexican restaurant in Naperville with some friends for an ice cold drink after their longest day of the year.

"After a margarita, or two, my feet don’t hurt anymore," she laughed.
