You Might Be a Blogger If...

- You're passionate

- You've got an opinion

- You're a community expert

Patch wants to know what you think. Have you checked out our Local Voices section recently? It's full of bloggers from the area who are sharing their thoughts about a wide number of topics.

Did you know the Local Voices feature was one of the most popular on our site with readers? Well, it is!

What Do You Want to Read About?

I hear it all the time from readers who say, "I'd like to blog on Patch, but what would I write about?"

That's actually the easy part, because on Patch, you can write about anything. Still, let's give some concrete ideas to our potential bloggers—what do you want to see a blog on Patch about?

Tell us in our poll what you'd like to see, and if you're a reader who thinks they can fill a popular spot, let me know and I'll show you how easy it is to get started.

How Much of a Commitment is Blogging?

We know you're busy, but we also know you've got important things to say. That's why we've made getting your voice on Patch's homepage, so easy. You post when you want, about what you want. There are no deadlines or commitment at all. Write when you've got something to say, or when the mood strikes you.

Why Blogging is Good for You and Good for La Grange

As a blogger you'll be put front and center on our homepage. Let's say you own a garden center in town, by blogging on Patch, you can share your expertise with the community by offering tips to your fellow gardeners. Become known as THE gardening expert in town.

Are you a foodie? Write about our robust restaurant scene, or share your favorite recipes. Tell us what you got at the farmer's market, or share your thoughts on a recent article about healthy food in schools.

Or maybe you run a book discussion group at the library. How great would it be to share your thoughts on a new title on Patch and start a literary conversation in comments?

Blogging helps spread the knowledge, and helps to get people talking!

I'll go first! My wishlist for La Grange Patch bloggers:

MUSIC: I'd love to see someone share what they're listening to now, their favorite albums or music news. Be the Jim DeRogatis of La Grange.

FOOD: Another passion of mine! I'd love to see some of your favorite recipes and reviews of places in La Grange.

SPORTS: Be our local go-to person for your kid's sports teams by sharing photos and giving updates on games. It's tough for us to get to every LT sporting event, so this would be a big help.

I'd love to know more about a few of the issues but it didn't let me select more than one. Sure night life including what you thought of the new release but I'm also trying to rehab one of the gorgeous historic homes on the cheap and started getting into auctions, habitat stores, craigslist, any other ideas? Also any hardwood floor, carpenters, painters, etc in the area people recommend?? Keep up the good work Matthew!

Thanks Sue. Having someone blog about contracting, design, etc would be great! I'm sure someone in the community has construction knowledge they could provide to readers in a blog. In fact, I bet someone has a lot of knowledge about construction in relation to rehabbing older homes! If anyone knows someone who might want to do a blog like this, let us know! They could do a Dear Handyman sort of column based on what people ask in comments! Terrific idea.
