Police: Dead Coyote, Live Rooster, Public Urination, Possible International Scam

Other incidents reported to La Grange police include hitchhikers, auto collisions and an appliance fire.

 

A resident of the 700 block of 11th Avenue in La Grange found a dead coyote in her driveway at about 6:49 a.m. Nov. 15. The Public Works department took away the coyote. La Grange has forest preserves nearby and coyotes often, "creep in at night," said La Grange Police Chief Michael Holub.

A 27-year-old La Grange man found a live rooster at about 9:06 p.m. Nov. 15 in the 200 block of South Waiola Avenue. The man told La Grange police he would hold onto the rooster if anyone contacts them.

A 51-year-old Brookfield man was given a warning from La Grange police after they said he was found urinating at about 7 p.m. Nov.  5 behind a building at 25A N. LaGrange Rd.

A La Grange woman contacted La Grange police at about 7:36 p.m. Nov. 15 because she suspected she was targeted by an overseas scam. She received a letter from an attorney, Richard Silberstein, in Barcelona, Spain, about an inheritance she supposedly was to receive. The letter and envelope were sent to the U.S. postal inspector in Chicago.

A La Grange police officer, David Rohlicek, was not injured when his squad car was hit by another auto at about 3:19 p.m. Nov. 16 at 50th Street and Gilbert Avenue. No more information about the accident was immediately available.

Two boys were sent on their way by La Grange police after they were seen at about 7:49 p.m. Nov. 16 trying to hitchhike at 47th  Street and LaGrange Road.

The La Grange Fire Department was called at about 10:40 a.m. Nov. 16 after a resident of the 1400 block of East 50th Street said a fire in her dryer is now out, but smoke still is filling her home.

A security vehicle for Adventist la Grange Memorial Hospital, 5101 Willow Springs Road, was involved in a collision at about 10:40 a.m. Nov. 16 in a lot on the east side of the building, but further information was not available.

A semi truck was reported to have hit a traffic light at about 6:54 a.m. Nov. 16 at 47th Street and Brainard Avenue. A La Grange police officer said nobody was on the scene and he could not tell if someone hit the pole. But the pedestrian sign on the southeast corner was not working and the signal was flashing red. The Illinois Department of Transportation was contacted.
